đŸ“± Stash Hub App – Review for Sewists & Pattern Collectors

✹ Overview

Stash Hub is a purpose‑built digital organiser for sewists, designed to keep your fabrics, patterns, notions, measurements, and projects in one place. Available on iOS, Android, and web, it replaces spreadsheets, notebooks, and “mental inventory” with a searchable, filterable, visual database.

đŸ§” Key Features

  • Fabric & Pattern Library – Add photos, yardage, fibre content, designer, size range, and more.

  • Projects – Bring together fabrics, patterns, and notions from your stash to create a complete plan. Add notes, set priorities, attach checklists, and mark them as “in progress” or “complete.” You can even share your projects straight from the app — perfect for showing collaborators, students, or sewing friends exactly what you’re working on.

  • Magic Mockup – Combine fabric photos with pattern line drawings to visualise your sewing ideas before you cut. It’s a quick way to audition fabrics for a pattern and spark inspiration.

  • Notions & Tools – Catalogue buttons, zips, interfacing, trims, and link them to projects so you know you have everything before you start.

  • Measurements – Store for yourself, clients, or family members.

  • Shopping Lists – Keep track of what you need for upcoming projects.

  • Magic Input – Now fully live and working exceptionally well for both fabrics and patterns. Paste a URL and watch the details auto‑populate.

  • Advanced Filters – Search by fabric type, colour, yardage, pattern designer, garment type, etc.

  • Stats & Insights – See how much you own, what you’ve used, and what’s languishing.

  • Cross‑Platform Access – Use on your phone or via the web version for a bigger view.

💡 My Experience

One of the first things I tried was the Import function — I had all my fabrics and patterns meticulously logged in Trello, and I wanted them in Stash Hub without re‑entering everything.

At first, it didn’t work — I had so much information that the import failed. I contacted Doug from the Stash Hub team, and he quickly remedied the situation so I could import the files successfully.

With everything transferred, I had a bit of a shock: I actually own far more fabric and patterns than I’d initially thought. Seeing it all laid out visually was both sobering and inspiring — it’s made me want to “shop my stash” before buying more.

Now, with Magic Input up and running, adding new fabrics and patterns is incredibly fast. The Projects feature has become my planning hub — I can link fabrics, patterns, and notions, jot down fitting notes, and tick off steps as I go. Being able to share a project directly from the app means I can send a complete visual plan to a student, collaborator, or friend in seconds.

The Magic Mockup tool is a joy — I can drop a fabric photo onto a pattern line drawing and instantly see if the pairing works. It’s saved me from a few questionable fabric‑pattern matches and given me the confidence to cut into special fabrics.

⚠ Cons
