Dressmaking Improver - PJ Top or Blouse

Class Description
During this workshop, you’ll create a blouse using the Seamwork Natalie pattern or a button‑up PJ top, with the option to use another similar pattern if you prefer.
This class focuses on improving your dressmaking skills and helping you learn new techniques that will support you in making more complex garments with confidence.
You’ll receive a printed pattern with beginner‑friendly instructions and colour photos showing each step, making it easy to continue sewing at home and create clothes you’re proud to wear.
Techniques you’ll learn:
- Inserting sleeves
- Attaching a facing
- Attaching a flat collar
- Sewing buttonholes
- Attaching buttons
- Plus more besides!
Sewing speeds vary, so you may not finish your garment within the session — but you will leave with the skills, pattern, and instructions needed to complete it confidently at home.
Is this right for me?
This class is ideal for sewists who want to improve their dressmaking skills and learn new techniques such as sleeves, facings, collars, buttonholes and more. It’s perfect for those who have already made a simple garment or who have completed our Beginners Dressmaking class and now want to progress to more detailed construction.
Ideally, you will have completed our Beginners Dressmaking class or have made at least one simple garment before joining this workshop.
What do I need to bring?
Fabric is included in the cost, so you only need to bring your own if you prefer to use a different fabric. If you choose to bring your own, please ensure it is prewashed before the workshop .
Fabric requirements can be sent on request if you are bringing your own fabric.
You will also need matching thread, which can be purchased in the shop on the day .
Feel free to bring a bite to eat — we have a fridge, microwave and kettle available, and there is a chippy and sandwich shop nearby .
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer, but please remember to bring the instruction manual with you.
If you’d rather not carry your machine, you are very welcome to use one of ours during the workshop.

Please check the dates carefully prior to booking. Once an order is placed it cannot be refunded.
If for any reason you are unable to attend please contact us and we will try to find someone to take your place. Golden Rose Sewing School is not contractually obliged to find a replacement but we can try to find someone as a gesture of good will. If this is not possible feel free to send a substitute. If you book a class for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date.
All classes must be paid for in full either prior to the event or on the day of the event. If you have paid a deposit this is non-refundable.
Payment for the deposit can be made on the website. Payments for the remaining balance can be paid by bank transfer or by card at the school. We do not store or have access to your bank details. This is securely processed by Wix payments and Sumup.
In the unlikely event that a class is cancelled, we will attempt to give as much warning as possible. We will email you and phone you if you have provided us with a telephone number. We will refund your booking fee or transfer you to another class of the same value, space permitting. Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for wasted travel cost.
