Golden Rosebuds Afterschool - First Stitches
Cost
£120 per 6 week block
Immediate non refundable deposit required. Balance payable date of workshop.
Class Description
This 6‑week First Stitches block is a gentle, welcoming introduction to sewing for young creatives aged 8–14 (older on request). It’s designed especially for children who are discovering sewing for the very first time, offering a calm, encouraging space to learn new skills with confidence.
Across the block, Rosebuds work through a series of fun, achievable projects that introduce the essential foundations of sewing — from learning how to use a sewing machine safely to exploring simple fabrics, seams and basic construction. Each session builds skills step by step while keeping things playful, creative and enjoyable.
All standard materials and tools are provided, so students can focus fully on learning and making.
Classes run during term time, with payment taken per 6‑week block. Students simply bring their curiosity and enthusiasm.
First Stitches is the perfect place for young sewists to flourish, make friends and begin their sewing journey with joy and confidence.
Is this course right for me?
There are only 5 spaces available in each 6‑week block, ensuring every child receives individual attention, clear guidance and plenty of hands‑on support.
First Stitches is designed specifically for complete beginners — children who have never sewn before or who need a gentle, structured introduction to the basics.
If your child already has some sewing experience or has completed First Stitches previously, they may be ready for Bud to Bloom – Next Stitches, our next‑level course.
What do I need to bring?
All materials and tools needed for the course projects are provided, so students don’t need to bring anything sewing‑related with them.
For safety, long hair must be tied back and open‑toed shoes are not permitted during sewing sessions.
If your child has particular dietary requirements, allergies or preferences, please feel free to send them with their own drink and snack for the session.
What’s included?
- All tools and equipment
- Use of sewing machines
- Fabric and thread
- Refreshments (orange or apple and blackcurrant sugar-free cordial) If your child can't have cordial please let us know.
